We are currently in the process of moving my daughter from public school to a private school that specializes in teaching children with learning disabilities. Here in Florida you can apply for the McKay scholarship to receive funds to pay for private school tuition. The scholarship amount is based solely on your child's IEP at the time you apply. Maybe there is something similar in your area.

Also, we have found that it speeds things along when you consult a specialist outside of the school system. Usually specialists are sensitive to what you need in the school system for your child and are willing to work with you to provide a diagnosis that will be recognized by the school system. You will have to pay out of pocket, unless covered by insurance, but it will get done quickly with a sympathetic specialist who wants to get your child into the program, not keep him out. A good neurologist would be able to give you an ADD or ADHD diagnosis.

I know it varies from state to state, but I hope you can find something where you are to help move the process along. Please feel free to contact me - I am happy to share the information I have.

Wishing you all the best - you are doing a fabulous job of gettin M the help he needs.Itty Bitty Ladybughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11691629835581500586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4765116892741369944.post-39229441753653629262008-10-22T09:33:00.000-07:002008-10-22T09:33:00.000-07:00Sylvan is not worth the money!
